Congrats Megan

My cousin Megan got married in the Logan temple last Saturday. My parents and I got to go to the temple ceremony. Megan looked so beautiful and happy and Clayton (her new husband) seems like such a great guy. Even though I went to school up in Logan (Utah State) I had never been to the Logan temple so it was really good to go. Congrats to Megan and Clayton.

4-Way Inspection Passed!!!

4-Way Inspection Passed!!!

Well after 4 months of working on our house, we finally passed our 4-way inspection. For those of you who don't know what that is (and don't worry I didn't know either) it is when the city comes to inspect the rough plumbing, rough electrical, framing, and rough heating & air-conditioning. There is certain things that you are required to have done and they inspect those things and then make sure everything else is up to code. We had the inspector come Monday morning and he found about 8 little things that he wanted updated, then we had to schedule another inspection Tuesday afternoon and WE PASSED!!!

I must admit I did a little happy dance when I found out. What this means for us now is that we can start putting the stucco and stone on the outside of our house and putting the insulation and drywall in the inside of our house. It is very exciting and I am glad that we were able to come through it with flying colors.

Lagoon Revisited

Well we had the opportunity with my work to go to Lagoon again, and this time, I am happy to announce, I did not get sick. Of course, I just went with Logan and Ashton and they don't like the rides that make you sick, but still I didn't leave nautious. Ryan had to work so he wasn't able to go, and my parents took Maren, so that left the boys and I to ride the rides. It was so much fun!!!

Ashton's favorite ride was the Oddessy that is a new ride that flies around like the Dumbo ride at Disneyland but dolphins and whales on the side of the ride try to squirt water at you to get you wet. Well Ashton and I had done a good job at avoiding getting wet and then the ride came to a slow stop and stopped right in front of a killer whale that was still squirting water, RIGHT IN MY LAP!!! So while we are waiting for the ride to release the seat belts, I am getting soaked and Ashton is laughing his head off. The only revenge I got was that the whale got Logan the next time we rode the ride.

My parents took Maren on only one ride, but she wasn't sure that she liked it. We don't think she like riding by herself.

Summer Spelling

I have a funny story to tell about Logan.

So one early Summer morning Logan is up and he tells me that he has spelling words that he needs me to help him with.

I'm like, "spelling words? Isn't it summer. You're teacher didn't send you with homework to do over the summer did she?"

That's when he pulls out a list of words from a folder and said, "these are for Pokemon class, mom." If I really want to do good as a Pokemon trainer, I need to know how to spell these words. (They were words like Johto, Pokemon, Pokeball).

So I said a little dumbfounded, "uhhhh, ok." After several tries he knew how to spell all his spelling words. I guess that this training will help him in his quest to become a Pokemon Master.

Happy Father's Day

We had a nice dinner at my parent's house for father's day. It was a great evening filled with laughter, food, crazy kids, and swimming. My brother Dallin showed us his video of his skydiving experience (he jumped out of a plane on Saturday). I still can't believe he did it. Way to go Dallin!! The only thing missing was Colby's family. We miss them. We want to thank all the men in our lives for what they do! Happy Father's Day!!!

Camping - Sort of

We went camping with my in-laws last weekend up at the Spruces. Well we only kind-of went camping. Logan stayed the entire time up there with them, Ashton spent one night, but Ryan, Maren and I came home and slept in our own beds (Ryan had to work and I couldn't chase Maren on my own). Maren is a terrible camper right now and we spent most of our time saying, "No Maren, stay out of the road," "No Maren, stay out of the fire," "No Maren, stay out of the river." I think that she may have the impression that her name has changed to "No Maren" after this weekend. Although we tried to keep her out of the river, she did slip and rolled into the freezing water and mud. That did help deter her for a while. Ashton and Logan too felt the river calling to them, and we spent a lot of time changing wet shoes, socks and pants when they would fall in.

But over all it was really fun and it was good to make memories. Logan especially had fun with Lu and Chris, reading, hiking and making smores. We want to thank them for setting up this camping trip.

Shingled Out

Well we finally got our shingles on our house. Between the rain and the fact that only one guy was working on it, it took over a week, but we finally have our house roofed. We are excited and the outside is beginning to take shape. The rough plumbing, heating, and electrical should be done in the next 2 weeks so we should be ready for the 4-way inspection soon!!

Lagoon

***WARNING - THE NEXT STORY INVOLVES THE WORD VOMIT****
Ryan and I got the very rare opportunity to something today together, just the two of us. We actually got to go to Lagoon without the kids and ride all the big kid rides and not spend time in the little kid area. It was so much fun riding the Samurai, the Spider, Wicked, and the Bat. These were all new rides that have come out, but in the past we have had to miss them since we had our small kids. Ryan had a blast and so did I until about half way through the day when I started to feel nauseous. Ryan called me some nice names like "wimp" and "old lady". So we took a break and went miniature golfing (Ryan beat me by 10 strokes). But I still wasn't feeling well. So we decided that we would go on one or two more rides and then leave. We went on the Tidal Wave and then on the Old White Roller coaster. Well they did me in!! So I laid on the bench while my world and my stomach was still rolling. We went out to eat (bad idea) and I just got a diet coke and fries. Well on our way home from Lagoon, Ryan had to stop off two times so that I could vomit. Not a very fun way to end a really fun morning. Come to find out, I had caught my son's stomach virus and it was rearing it's ugly head. I didn't feel better until Saturday. So for the record, I may be old, but it wasn't the roller coasters that made me sick (at least not totally), it was the stomach virus.

Forever Friends

I had the rare privilege of going out to dinner with some of my high school friends on Tuesday Night. We went to Applebees and staying much longer than we ate. My friend Dawn, who lives in California, is always so good at getting us together. I haven't seen my friend Tiffany in over 5 years so it was so so good to see her. Emily and I used to see each other more often but since she has moved it is only every once in a while. I can't remember laughing so hard in a very long time. It was great to get out and see you ladies. Let's do it more often.

Splish Splash

My kids have been waiting until it was warm enough to run through the sprinklers and so here are some cute pictures of them. Maren wasn't sure about it though. She ran into the sprinklers and got disoriented and couldn't get out before she was sopping wet. As for the boys they loved it!!

Roof! Roof!

To make this story complete, I have to start at the beginning. We have loved the look of this Ivory Home not too far from our house since before we even thought of building our own home. We love the color of stucco, we love the stone work and we love the shingle color. We have driven by this house about 10 times and taken walks by the house to memorize it's features. Well we got to the point where needed to pick out a shingle color for our home and we were trying to match the color to this house we liked. But after going to the Roofers Supply store 2 times, we hadn't come up with the right color. So Ryan decided to talk to the people that live in this house. Of course it happens to be an older gentleman who speaks with an accent and keeps thinking that Ryan wants to buy and Ivory Home and doesn't give us much information. While Ryan is distracting the gentleman, he motions for me to take pictures with my cell phone. So while his back is turned, I'm taking pictures.

Well when we get home the pictures look terrible, so he sends me back to the house with the regular camera and the video camera. So I stake out in front of this house one more time. Of course the people that live there open the garage, so I jump back into my van, drive through the neighborhood until they are gone, and then start taking pictures again. Don't be surprised if these people get a restraining order out against us. But the good news is that we were able to take the pictures to the Roofers Supply store and we have ordered our shingles!!!! The color is Natural Timber. Anyway they were delivered today so they should finish our roof this week. Yeah!!

Flowers

I just have to post these beautiful pictures of my mother's flowers. These are her pride and joy every year and she does such a good job. I would love to take credit and say that I helped plant them but I really didn't. I think I put in 8 plants that's all. Aren't they beautiful!!!
